IN MY COUNTRY THERE IS PROBLEM

Knowing about my absolute adoration for monkeys, Greg the Goyfriend sent me this. They look like half the boys I've ever dated.

My friend Iann is in love with The Killers. He doesn't love many things -- he certainly hates about 85% of the bands I love -- but he loves the Killers. So much so that he managed to figure out that their Hot Fuss is a concept album (meanwhile, i just thought it was a collection of awesome songs). Here's his breakdown:

"Here's the whole story arc:
Andy kills Jenny "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine".
"Mr. Brightside" tells why he did it -- hence the lyric "all in my head."
"Smile Like You Mean It" is a memory of them together that he knew she was going to leave him.
"Somebody Told Me" is people whispering that he killed her, because she found out he was gay or had had a gay affair (hence the chorus).
"All These Things I've Done" is him rationalizing it all while being ont he lamb.
"Andy, You're A Star " is the kid who falls in love with him watching him on TV [Iann doesn't mention it here, but in our IM he aptly compared it to "Last of the Famous International Playboys" by Morrissey -- which happens to be our favorite Moz song].
"On Top" is about him being on the lamb.
"Change You Mind" is him having rationalized what he's done and trying to convince his parents or his friends.
"Believe Me Natalie" is Jenny's best friend who brings the cops and he's trying to convince her he didn't do it.
"Everything Will Be alright" is about him in jail, realizing what he's done but feeling it'll be ok."

Well done Iann!

OK. Please don't forget that the Tarts of Pleasure and Death & Destruction are DJing tomorrow at Misshapes.

Yeah, that concept could work, but what about the UK version with "Indie Rock N' Roll"? How does that fit in?

Holy Shit! What a fucking fantastic concept. I love it. Even if that's not what they meant to do, it's absolutely brilliant.

hot fuss would be a passable album -- begrudging on my part -- if the tracklisting did not include "Indie Rock n Roll" and "All These Things That I've Done," just my two cents.

11 young men and women just died in vain because the Cincinatti City Council are idiots.

... and that slang term you keep trying to use is "on the lam", not "on the LAMB" you retard. Get it right or don't bother trying to look so cool.

That concept album idea is so right on I felt my head spin.

I fucking love The Killers! I haven't put down that album since I bought it. Half of my friends don't even get the type of music I listen to, and The Killers was the only one thus far that managed to suck any of them in. I can't wait to see them live in a couple of months in October. They're going to be at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans. I will be a personal assistant for that this year.

Cool concept! I had a feeling it was a concept album when I first bought it but never actually sat down to think about how it all connects.

maybe he means on the lamb like they were in ancient greece. it adds a bit more depth to the 'concept.'

what about midnight show? the whole thing seems to be about killing a girl...

i think i once heard that midnight show, along with an unreleased song and jenny were all part of a single three-song arc about murdering a girl. but i suppose an entire album would do, as well.

Who wrote the songs? Was it the lead singer? If it was, and he really is gay, I will cry. I will crawl into a corner, curl into a fetal position, and crumble into dust if a guy is getting that hot peice of ass and not me.

that concept is really stretching there. i dont think the interpretation is "amazing" or "genius" i think its "ponderous" and "stupid"
